Online dictionary Linguee introduces 218 new language pairs

In 2009, the German-based Linguee GmbH launched the first extensive search engine for translations, initially for searches in English and German. Since then, the search engine for translations has grown rapidly: Linguee now helps more than 1 million users a day to find translations of words and expressions, making it one of the top 20 largest internet sites in Germany.*

Linguee aims to repeat this success on an international scale: just a few months after its launch, Linguee added French, Portuguese, and Spanish; just recently, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese (Mandarin) were added, too. Today, another 218 languages were launched on Linguee, including official EU languages. “The internationalization of our website has been our main focus in the past years,” says Dr. Gereon Frahling, founder and CEO of Linguee. “With 234 language combinations, we can now offer Linguee all across the globe.”
